These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Scout Online Accountability ("Scout"). By installing, accessing, or using Scout, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Scout.
1. Description of Service
Scout provides browser-based accountability and communication tools. Features may include:
- Intentional screenshot sharing
- User-configured website, URL, and keyword monitoring
- Automatic accountability notifications
- Accountability relationships and recipient consent
- Recipient notification controls
- Daily summaries
- Gmail and other communication integrations
- Subscription features
- Other related accountability functionality
Scout is intended to facilitate consensual accountability and communication. It is not designed as covert surveillance software.
2. Eligibility
You must be legally permitted to use Scout and enter into these Terms.
If Scout is used in connection with a minor, the person configuring or supervising its use is responsible for complying with applicable parental-consent, privacy, and child-protection laws.
3. Accountability Relationships and Consent
Scout allows users to establish accountability relationships with recipients. Recipients may be asked to accept a relationship before certain communications are enabled. Recipients may also be provided controls to manage communication preferences or end a relationship.
You agree not to circumvent these consent or recipient-control mechanisms.
4. User Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Using Scout lawfully
- Configuring monitoring rules appropriately
- Ensuring you have the right to capture and share information transmitted through Scout
- Obtaining any consent required by applicable law
- Protecting access to your browser and connected accounts
- Using communication integrations only with accounts you are authorized to access
You may not use Scout to unlawfully spy on, harass, stalk, intimidate, or monitor another person.
5. Monitoring and Screenshot Features
Scout may capture the visible browser tab when the user intentionally chooses to send a screenshot or when monitoring is enabled and a page matches a monitoring rule configured by the user.
Monitoring is based on user-defined rules and is not guaranteed to detect every applicable page, event, or activity. Users remain responsible for understanding what they configure Scout to monitor and where Scout communications are sent.
6. Third-Party Integrations
Scout may integrate with third-party services such as Google, Gmail, Discord, Stripe, SendGrid, and browser-platform services. Use of those services may also be governed by their respective terms and privacy policies.
Connecting a third-party account authorizes Scout to use the permissions granted by the user for the functionality presented by Scout. Availability of third-party integrations may change if a provider modifies or discontinues its APIs or services.
7. Google and Gmail
If you connect a Google account, you authorize Scout to use the Google permissions displayed during Google's authorization process for Scout's supported Gmail functionality.
Scout's Gmail integration is intended to send supported Scout communications from the connected account. Connecting Gmail does not authorize Scout to use the account for unrelated purposes. You may disconnect or revoke Scout's Google authorization.
8. Subscriptions and Billing
Paid Scout features may require a subscription. Payments are processed by Stripe or another disclosed payment processor. Scout does not directly process or store complete payment-card information.
Applicable pricing, billing intervals, and subscription terms are displayed before purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew according to the selected billing interval unless canceled. Users may cancel through the available billing-management functionality.
9. Refunds
Refund requests may be considered for circumstances such as duplicate charges or billing errors. Contact brettmariani923@gmail.com for billing or refund questions.
Nothing in these Terms limits any refund or consumer rights that cannot legally be waived.
10. Acceptable Use
You may not use Scout to:
- Violate applicable law
- Engage in unlawful surveillance
- Capture or distribute information when prohibited by law
- Harass, stalk, threaten, or abuse another person
- Circumvent Scout's consent or recipient-control mechanisms
- Attempt to compromise Scout's systems or accounts
- Abuse Scout's email or communication infrastructure
- Use Scout to distribute spam, malicious content, or unlawful material
Scout may restrict or terminate access when reasonably necessary to address abuse, security threats, or violations of these Terms.
11. Privacy
Scout's collection and processing of personal information is described in the Scout Privacy Policy. By using Scout, you acknowledge that accountability functionality necessarily involves transmitting information to recipients selected or authorized through Scout.
12. Intellectual Property
Scout's software, branding, logos, graphics, and other original materials are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
Except where applicable law permits otherwise, you may not reproduce, sell, redistribute, or commercially exploit Scout or its proprietary materials without authorization. These Terms do not restrict rights that cannot legally be restricted.
13. Service Availability
Scout may be modified, updated, interrupted, or discontinued. Because Scout depends partly on browsers, websites, email providers, communication platforms, and other third-party systems, we cannot guarantee that every notification, screenshot, integration, or monitoring event will function without interruption.
14. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the extent permitted by law, Scout is provided "as is" and "as available."
We do not guarantee that Scout will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every browser, website, device, or third-party service. Scout should not be relied upon as the sole means of preventing harmful, illegal, dangerous, or unwanted behavior.
15. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Scout and its developer will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of or inability to use Scout.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.
16. Termination
You may stop using Scout at any time by uninstalling it and, where applicable, canceling your subscription or disconnecting integrations.
Scout may suspend or terminate access when reasonably necessary because of abuse, security concerns, legal requirements, nonpayment, or material violation of these Terms.
17. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as Scout evolves or as legal, platform, or operational requirements change. The current version will be published on Scout's website with its effective date.
